Baltic amber, the most valuable of the amber deposits, is several million year old fossilized tree resin. Not only a unique and beautiful gemstone, amber yields considerable scientific data because of the other matter usually found in the stones such as other fossilized materials, plants, tiny animals and insects. 

My amber supplier had some superior pendants I purchased to make into some lovely necklaces.  This 1.5" sterling pendant hangs from a handstrung 30" necklace of amber chips highligted with Swarovski crystals and sterling silver. Hand wash/dry only.  No chemicals should be used on the amber.
