Selecting a Necklace Style
For the most flattering ensemble of jewelry and clothing, choose clothes that make your jewelry the focal point of your outfit, or choose jewelry to compliment your outfit without overpowering or detracting - compliment and enhance - this is the key. The guidelines below can help you in choosing the right necklace style:
Halter Tops - chokers/collars, pendants, long multi-strands or lariats
High Round Necklines - a single or multi-strand necklace
without a pendant or a choker
Off-Shoulder Neckline - medium length pendant, choker or collar, and
asymmetrical or more unusual pieces
Strapless - Most any style will work well but keep the length above the
top of the bodice
Wide Scoop Neckline - bold mid-length pendant, choker,
multi-strand or lariat styles
Turtle Necks - Bold mid-length or long necklaces, with
or without a pendant, and lariats
All Necklines in General - Long single strand necklaces (36" or more)
look terrific with just about everything
Standard Necklace and Bracelet Lengths
Standard Necklace Lengths: Choker - 16", Princess - 18", Matinee - 24",
Opera - 32" and Lariat - 48".
Standard necklace lengths will not fit everyone the same, so my Chokers range from 16" to 17" and the Princess length ranges from 18" to 20".
Standard Bracelet Lengths: Teen & Lady - Small = 6 ¾" to 7", Lady - Medium = 7 ½",
Lady - Large = 8" and Lady - Extra Large = 8 ½"
Measuring Your Wrist: Using a soft tape measure or non-stretchy string, measure your wrist at the place you like to wear bracelets or just below your wrist bone. This is your wrist size. Take the wrist size and add one (1) inch. This is the size bracelet you should order.
Little girl necklaces are always 15" to 16" and bracelets are 5" to 6".
